The Teams App comes bundled with several versions of MS Office 365, so you may already have it on your computer. If not, it’s a simple process to download and install it. You can use an appropriate MS Office 365 license or download the free version of Teams (which has some limitations).

Required License
Microsoft requires one of the following licenses to use the full version of Teams:
Small Business Plans | Enterprise Plans | Education Plans | Developer Plans |
---|---|---|---|
Office 365 Business Essentials | Office 365 Enterprise E1 | Office 365 Education | Office 365 Developer |
Office 365 Business Premium | Office 365 Enterprise E3 | Office 365 Education Plus | |
Microsoft 365 for business | Office 365 Enterprise E4 (retired) | Office 365 Education E3 (retired) | |
Office 365 Enterprise E5 | Office 365 Education E5 | ||
Office 365 Enterprise F1 |
This shows that most, but not all of Microsoft’s O365 licenses cover the use of Teams. If you don’t have one of these licenses or you don’t know what license you have, then please contact HDF.
NOTE: Only the user sharing information or hosting the Meeting (video conference) requires a license. Participants do not require a license.
If you are not using O365 for email already and want to use Teams, then you may want to try the free version of Teams, but be aware that it does have limited functionality (for instance, you get less file storage space and you can not schedule video conference meetings).
Install Teams on your computer
To check if Teams is already installed on a PC: Click the Start button at the bottom left corner of your Windows screen. This will bring up the Start Menu. At this point, type the word TEAMS on your keyboard. If you see Microsoft Teams as displayed here, then you have the app installed.
If you don’t see it installed, then please open a browser to: https://teams.microsoft.com/downloads
Then click the Download Teams button, and run the program to install it.
To install Teams on a Mac, please follow the instructions on this page.
Install Teams on your phone or Mobile device
To install Teams on your phone or mobile device enter the Play Store (Android devices) or Apple Store (Apple devices) and search for TEAMS. There may be several apps which include this name, so install the one which shows this icon:
