1. If my phone gets stolen, is it too late to protect myself?

 Yes. There are several things you should consider doing *before* you lose your phone to protect yourself and your data.

 No. You can always chase after the thief and ask them nicely to allow you access to your phone again so you can engage the protections.

2. I’m an expert at discerning PHISHing emails, so I don’t have to be as careful as others.

 This is correct. If you are an expert, then you can be lazy about proofreading emails before engaging or clicking links.

 Wrong! Even experts can sometimes fall for PHISHing emails. Especially, if they are in a hurry.

3. You only have to worry about PHISHING type messages coming in through email.

 Correct. PHISHING only relates to emails.

 Incorrect. There are many forms of PHISHING related messages to fool you including SMISHing (SMS PHISHing, which comes through text messaging) and VISHing (Voice PHISHing, which can come through a voice call).

 It depends on if you use multiple email accounts or not.

 This is only true on Gmail accounts.

4. You don’t have to worry about your email account.  You can always reset the password and lock out a hacker if they get into it.

 Hackers can’t get into your email account. You have a password, right?

 Incorrect. If a hacker gets into your primary email account, they can get into *ALL* of your other accounts.

 Correct. You just change the password back, and they you don’t have to worry anymore that a hacker had access to your primary email account.

5. I can use Artificial Intelligence to save myself hours of work.  It’s completely safe!

 Correct. Nothing can go wrong by using AI to save time.

 Wrong! Posting proprietary information into AI generation fields is not safe!

 Wrong! Your boss will find out you are using AI and you’ll be disciplined or fired.

6. If I look at the URL in the link and it’s safe, then I’m OK, right?

 Wrong. The URL you see, and the URL that is actually used can be different.

 Correct. Check out the URL, and if its correct, then click away.

7. Nobody is speaking about Windows 10 anymore.  That must mean it’s safe to use again.

 Correct. If it’s working for you, then just keep using it.

 Incorrect. Windows 10 is no longer supported, unless you have engaged an Extended Security Update (ESU) program.

 My uncle George is still using Windows 10 without doing anything, and he’s an expert, so it must be OK.

8. My laptop magically cleans itself.

 Uh… no. You need to clean it regularly so that gunk doesn’t build up and stop it working correctly.

 Yes. Dell uses special microbial enzymes to keep it clean forever.

 Yes. But only if the keyboard has backlit keys.
